The Post Traumatic Stress Center announces: The First A.L.I.V.E. Counselor Certification Training. Monday, August 15 through Friday, August 19 At Post Traumatic Stress Center New Haven, CT 06511. ALIVE (Animating Learning by Integrating and Validating Experience) is the groundbreaking trauma-informed prevention program conducted by drama therapists at the Post Traumatic Stress Center in the public schools in New Haven, CT. Using drama therapy, storytelling, and DvT, an integrated program for elementary school students Kindergarten through 8th grade has resulted in dramatic decreases in office referrals, suspensions, expulsions, and physical fighting. This intensive week-long training will provide drama therapists all the concrete tools necessary to implement aspects of ALIVE in schools as part of the ALIVE National Program, and ready therapists when ALIVE is adopted by school districts in their area. Candidates must have a drama therapy (or similar) background, and also have had experience in Developmental Transformations. Preference will be given to those candidates with the most DvT experience, as this is crucial to the successful implementation of the program. However, limited DvT experience should not hinder you from applying, especially if you have substantial improvisational play experience or work experience in elementary schools. Training will begin promptly at 9 am on Monday August 15 and continue through 5 pm on Friday, August 19. Hotels/lodging is best found on the Internet. Cost: $795.00. To reserve a place, the entire fee must be sent by check or electronic deposit by June 15. There will be no refunds or discounts. However, do not book your travel until your registration is confirmed. Participants will be awarded Certification as an ALIVE counselor. Follow-up contact and supervision after the training will be expected. To apply, send resume to Cat Davis at cat.davis@ptsdcenter.com. We expect this training to fill up quickly.
